Let's break some WCAG rules
Let's experience a web that's not made for you! This talk is not a checklist of rules. It’s an interactive wake-up call. 15–25% of the population needs websites to accommodate different types of disabilities. Still, 94.8% of websites contain accessibility issues that make them harder to use.
It’s not because we don’t want to develop accessible websites and applications.
But we often lack knowledge and perspective. We build based on our own experience because that’s what we know. In this talk, you’ll get to experience how our applications work for someone with a screen reader, low vision, or limited motor control, and feel firsthand the challenges they face.
The talk combines knowledge, practice, and lived experience to raise your awareness of accessibility on the web and how small changes can make a huge difference.
You'll see the most common mistakes in action, who they affect, and how to fix them. So come experience the world through someone else's senses, and learn how to be a more accessible developer.
