Are you ready to turn your Funko Pop collection into the ultimate online showcase? In this session, we'll explore how to harness the power of DigitalOcean's App Platform, MongoDB, and autoscaling to build and scale a dynamic website dedicated to Funko Pops (or anything else you collect).
We'll start by deploying a React-based application on the App Platform, seamlessly integrating with a Managed MongoDB database to store and retrieve collectible data. As traffic grows, we'll dive into setting up autoscaling to ensure your site remains fast and responsive.
This workshop will cover best practices for deploying, managing, and scaling your application with minimal effort. By the end, you'll have the knowledge and tools to create a robust, scalable platform for whatever you want to collect.
Jeff Blankenburg
Jeff Blankenburg spent the early part of his career in digital advertising, building websites for Victoria’s Secret, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Ford Motor Company, among others. He also spent 8 years at Microsoft, primarily as an evangelist for any new technology he could get his hands on. Today, he works on the Amazon Alexa team helping developers make Alexa even smarter. Jeff has also spoken at conferences all over the world, including London, Munich, Sydney, Tokyo, and New York, covering topics ranging from software development technologies to soft skill techniques. He also serves as an organizer for the Stir Trek conference.
Chris DeMars
Chris DeMars is a Senior Developer Advocate II at DigitalOcean with over 20 years of technical experience. He speaks all over the world on web accessibility, feature flags, A/B testing, and CSS. For his community contributions, he holds awards as a Progress Champion and former Microsoft MVP, Google Developer Expert, Cloudinary Media Developer Expert, and Auth0 Ambassador. When he is not working on making the web great and accessible you can find him fishing, on the paintball field, rating Detroit Style pizza, and looking for UFO's.
